Description
This pair of antique early style armchairs is a variation of the Nan-Guan-Mao style. It comes with a single-splat back-rest carved with the rare Tibetan Buddhist symbol "Wan" (means "Ten-Thousands") in cut-out design; in rich original red lacquer; made of excellent selected cuts of Northern Elm wood with appropriate worn foot rest. 18-19th century. With minor repair on wood spandrel.

In Buddhism, "Wan" is a symbol often refers to "the profound greatness".
